🌱 $24M For San Diego Airport + Trolley Extension Study

Here are the top stories today in San Diego:

  1. San Diego International Airport will receive $24,160,074 from the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of the bipartisan infrastructure bill that President Joe Biden signed into law last month, it was announced. It's the third-most of the 167 airports in California receiving DOT funding, behind Los Angeles and San Francisco international airports with nearly $80 million and more than $49 million, respectively.   2. A Metropolitan Transit System study released Thursday found that extending the Trolley to the San Diego International Airport is not only feasible, but could be completed in the next 10 years if things fall into place. (City News Service)

  3. The UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of California invested $1.5 million to community-based programs intended to reduce health disparities and improve health equity in San Diego County, it announced. The funding will go toward initiatives at 17 San Diego organizations. (City News Service)

  4. The number of San Diegans with lab-reported cases of influenza in the last week increased by 36% over the previous week, the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported. For the week ending Saturday, a total of 154 lab-confirmed flu cases were reported in the region, compared to the prior week when 113 influenza infections were identified. (City News Service)
