UPDATE: All lanes of I-25 back open after fuel spill

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Traffic reported on social media that the fuel spill on I-25 has been removed and all lanes were open as of 9:20 a.m.

The Colorado State Patrol tells FOX21 the fuel spill was about 40 gallons of diesel from a semi truck’s fuel tank. Hazmat teams have already cleaned up the fuel and the right lane is still closed while crews wait on a tow for the truck.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fuel spill on I-25 near S. Academy Blvd, causing delays

WEDNESDAY 2/21/2024 7 a.m.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) said a fuel spill in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 21 is causing delays on I-25.

CSP posted to social media around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, saying a fuel spill on I-25 between South Academy Boulevard and South Circle Drive in the Stratmoor neighborhood had closed the right lane.

CSP is telling travelers to expect delays.
