27-year-old shot, killed in Kingston: Case against three accused moves forward

KINGSTON - Three men have been indicted by an Ulster County grand jury for murder in the July 27 shooting death of a 27-year-old man.

Nyqwuan Monroe, 25, of New York City; Maliek Fredericks, 25, of Schenectady; and Shaliza Dhanraj, 26, of Rotterdam; were indicted for second-degree murder, and first-degree burglary (acting in concert), both felonies. Monroe also was indicted for second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, and Fredericks also was indicted for criminal possession of a firearm, a felony.

They are being held without bail in the Ulster County jail following arraignment before Kingston City Court Judge Philip Kirschner.

All three were charged in the July 27 shooting of Dominique Green, who was found dead on Prospect Street near Greenkill Avenue in Kingston around 9:20 p.m. that night.

Police and prosecutors have not released any details about a possible motive for the shooting.

"The indictment is just one of the first steps in bringing justice to Dominique Green, who was shot and killed in his own home, and to Dominique Green's family and many loved ones," Assistant District Attorney Jenna Hastings of the Special Victims Bureau in the district attorney's office, who is leading the prosecution, said in a statement.
