27-year-old man ejected from motorcycle, killed in collision on Highway 65 in Lincoln

A 27-year-old man was killed last week in Lincoln after he was ejected from his motorcycle during a collision, the California Highway Patrol said.

On Friday, the driver of a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound on Highway 65 and was attempting to make a left turn onto Nelson Lane when he was hit by a Lexus sedan traveling northbound.

The motorcyclist entered the intersection on a red light, putting himself directly in the path of the oncoming Lexus, CHP said.

“The force from the impact ejected the rider ... onto the roadway,” CHP said in a news release.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The 19-year-old driver of the Lexus had complaints of pain but was otherwise not injured, CHP said.

CHP officers said the collision is under investigation but it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
