- A Greenwood Village doctor and nurse have agreed to pay $1 million each to the family of Emmalyn Nguyen. She's the Thornton teenager who died after a breast augmentation surgery. Nguyen had that surgery in August of 2019 at the Office of Dr. Geoffrey Kim in Greenwood Village. She went into cardiac arrest after she was given anesthesia. Dr. Kim later admitted he did not call 911 for help for nearly five hours. Nguyen was left brain damaged, unable to speak, walk, or feed herself, and needing around the clock medical care. She died 14 months after that surgery. Nguyen's mother says this settlement or really any amount of money will never replace her.
