3 arrested after man shot 20 times with pellet gun in Cobb County park, police say

Police say three people are in custody after shooting people at a Cobb County park with an airsoft gun, police say.

Channel 2′s Michele Newell spoke with one man who says he was shot 20 times. The marks left behind can still be seen on his back and leg.

Police say the trio were shooting people with pellets, not bullets, in Logan Farm Park in Acworth.

Dalton Henderson, 19, Arianna McCard, 18, and a 16-year-old were doing the shooting from their car, police say.

Police say McCard’s daughter was also in the backseat during the shootings.

According to police reports, officers found the airsoft guns in the car they were driving in.

Even though the bullets are not real, the gun looks real. One of the victims says seeing the gun at night and then hearing shots is enough to make you fear for your life.

“I see a gun, not really able to determine if it’s real or fake,” the victim, who didn’t want to be identified, said. “I was walking and then all of a sudden I jumped into the air.”

He says he was in the park with his partner at 10 p.m. when he started hearing gunshots.

“I was thinking I was actually getting shot,” he told Newell. “All of a sudden, I’m just feeling stings all over my body.”

The man and his partner were both shot with pellets.

“He said that he was glad that he didn’t carry, because, if he had, he may have feared for his life and maybe had shot back,” the man said of his partner.

Henderson is being charged with battery and reckless conduct. McCard is being charged with reckless conduct. The 16-year-old is also facing charges, but they have not been confirmed.

“I don’t care if it’s not a real gun, it’s not cool. People are afraid of that stuff. The public is afraid of that stuff,” he said.

Both Henderson and McCard have been released from the Cobb County Detention Center.
