3 Beaver Dam firefighters injured after hovercraft crashes on lake during ice rescue training

Three Beaver Dam firefighters were injured Monday night after their hovercraft crashed on Beaver Dam Lake during training.

The fire department was conducting ice rescue training near Grape Island when the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m., according to the Beaver Dam Fire Department.

The three injured firefighters were treated on scene before being transported to a hospital.

One sustained serious inquires and was transported by Flight for Life to Aurora Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc, where he remains hospitalized in stable condition. The other two were were released Tuesday morning.

The incident is under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, according to Beaver Dam Fire Chief Michael Wesle.

The Beaver Dam Police Department and Dodge County Sheriff's Department also assisted the fire department during the incident.
