Welcome to Talkin' Titans. This is Tennessee Titans beat reporter Ben Arthur. In today's newsletter, I offer my thoughts on the Titans' 2022 schedule.

The Titans’ 2022 schedule was unveiled on Thursday. On Tennessean.com, you can find my game-by-game predictions for the season and 10 observations from columnist Gentry Estes.

But for this space, here are my three biggest takeaways:

Road-dominated primetime slate

The Titans have four primetime games (one more than last year), the most on their initial schedule since 2009.

Here’s the list:

What jumps out (other than two Thursday games): three of the four primetime games are on the road. And all four primetime opponents had top-10 scoring offenses last season. Tennessee will have its hands full in the spotlight this coming season.

Weeks 9-13 toughest stretch

The Bills game stands out as an early test, but I think how the Titans handle Weeks 9-13 will tell us the most about the team.

That stretch starts with Sunday night at Kansas City.

Russell Wilson and the revamped Broncos come to Nashville the following weekend.

Then it’s a quick turn to Green Bay to face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, the NFC’s No. 1 seed last season.

After a mini-bye, it’s a rematch with the Bengals.

The stretch ends at Philadelphia, where former Titans star A.J. Brown and the Eagles await.

The first four teams will realistically be in the Super Bowl conversation, while the Philly game begins December (when snow is a strong possibility) in what could be an emotionally charged atmosphere facing Brown.

Last season, the Titans went 5-0 in their most daunting stretch: Week 6 vs. Bills, Week 7 vs. Chiefs, Week 8 @ Colts, Week 9 @ Rams and Week 10 @ Saints.

How will they fare in 2022?

Early bye week

The Titans have a Week 6 bye, which is early on the NFL schedule. It feels especially early considering they had to wait until Week 13 last season for their week off.

Week 6 is the second earliest Tennessee has had its bye week in the Jon Robinson era (2016-present). In 2020, the Titans had their bye in Week 4.
