3 Brighton businesses named top workplace by Detroit Free Press
BRIGHTON − Three Livingston County businesses, all in Brighton, H.H. Barnum, Executive Wealth Management and Lowry Solutions Inc. were named 2022 top workplaces by the Detroit Free Press.
Any organization — public, private, nonprofit, government — with 50 or more employees in Michigan was eligible to participate in the newspaper contest and the newspaper honored 200 companies in a variety of categories.
H.H. Barnum, a distributor of products, solutions and controls for factory automation, with between 150-499 employees, located at 7915 Lochlin Dr., was named a Midsize Michigan Top Workplace. According to a press release, the award is based on employee feedback gathered through a survey with Energage.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO “That's something to be proud of. In today's market, leaders must ensure they are allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That's paramount.”
The anonymous survey was distributed to all H.H. Barnum employees, and it had a 78% response rate. According to the release, H.H. Barnum earned eight out of 12 available culture badges for being in the top 25% of companies for supportive managers, strong values, meaningful work, and more.
“We couldn’t be happier with the survey results,” said Ed Koza, president of H.H. Barnum. “We knew our company culture was one of our greatest strengths, so it’s great to see that our employees feel the same way.”
Additionally, Executive Wealth Management and Lowry Solutions Inc. were named Small Michigan Top Workplaces. Both companies have 150 or fewer employees.
Executive Wealth Management, located at 135 W. North St., Ste. 1, provides financial planning, wealth management, tax preparation and legal advice to families, individuals and business owners.
"For us, it's certainly an honor to know that your employees are willing to put the time in there to promote the company they work for," Michael Lay, director/chief operating officer said. "I think it's just a testament to everything we do for our clients, everything we do for our employees and the environment we create to just try to be a great place to work and a great pillar of the community, so it's just something we constantly strive for, and I guess this award sort of shows that."
Lowry Solutions Inc., whose mission is to provide innovative technology solutions that help businesses achieve their goals, was also named a Top Workplace. They are located at 9420 Maltby Rd.
