3-car crash on Bluffton Parkway Flyover causes injuries, shuts down all lanes of overpass

A three-car crash on the westbound Bluffton Parkway Flyover caused injuries and is blocking all lanes of traffic Wednesday afternoon, officials say.

The crash occurred just around 4 p.m. Wednesday and has shut down all eastbound and westbound lanes of the overpass, according to an alert sent from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash involved three vehicles and led to injuries for at least one person, said Stephen Combs, a spokesperson for the Bluffton Township Fire District. Details on the number and severity of the injuries are unknown, he added, but ambulances had been requested for the scene.

All injured parties had been taken by ambulance as of 4:30 p.m., Combs said.

Drivers heading off Hilton Head Wednesday evening can use Burnt Church Rd. or Bluffton Rd. as alternate routes, according to a traffic alert from the Bluffton Township Fire District.
