3 cases of COVID variants found in Tulare Co.

Tulare County health officials reported the county's first three cases of COVID-19 variants on Friday.

- Developing now, two dangerous variants of COVID-19 have been identified in Tulare County for the first time. According to the county's public health branch, three individuals were identified through surveillance testing. The county's health lab revealed the first two known cases of the UK variant and the first known case of the South African variant. There is evidence that the UK variant may cause more severe disease and both the UK and South African variants are estimated to be about 50% more infectious than other variants in circulation. County officials strongly urge residents to get vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
