3 charged in fatal shooting of 84-year-old Norfolk convenience store owner

NORFOLK — Three people have been charged in connection with Wednesday’s fatal shooting of an 84-year-old Norfolk convenience store owner, according to police.

Dennis C. Hisle, 42, is charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding and two counts of illegal use of a firearm; Bruce G. Hisle, 40, is charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm; and Tamika Credle, 41, is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

All three are being held in the Norfolk city jail without bond. Police have not said if Dennis Hisle and Bruce Hisle are related.

The shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m. outside the Triple C Convenience store on Lindenwood Avenue in the Lindenwood neighborhood.

Arriving officers found store owner James Carter outside the store with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Another man also was seriously injured.

Detectives believe Carter was an innocent bystander and was shot after a disturbance broke out outside his store, according to a police spokeswoman.
