3 Cincinnati museums nominated for national awards. Here's how to vote

Three Cincinnati museums are receiving national recognition.

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center has been nominated for Best History Museum by USA TODAY's 10Best for the third year in a row. Two other museums, both located at Cincinnati Museum Center, have also been nominated for awards.

The Freedom Center, which opened in 2004, highlights issues of freedom, systemic racism and implicit bias by sharing stories from the underground railroad to the modern day. It finished second for Best History Museum in 2021 and third in 2022.

'We think in generations.':Lytle Park's third rebirth underway

The Cincinnati History Museum, which traces its roots to the Cincinnati Historical Society of 1831 and includes historical artifacts and interactive experiences, was also nominated for Best History Museum. The Children's Museum is in the running for Best Children’s Museum. It opened in 1998 and helps future generations learn through play.

The finalists for the USA TODAY 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards are selected by a panel of experts and editors. According to the leaderboard, the Cincinnati History Museum is currently in first place, and the Freedom Center is in second. The Children's Museum is in third place in its category, as of Wednesday's standings.

Each category includes 20 finalists from across the country. The winner is decided by a four-week online vote. Voting is now open on www.10best.com through noon Feb. 13. Each person can vote once per day, per device.
