3 cops seriously hurt in crash during procession for fallen officer, Oklahoma police say

Three Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers were injured after a crash during a procession for a fallen Tulsa police officer, police say.

The three motorcycle officers were hurt Thursday in Oklahoma City while escorting Tulsa police Sgt. Craig Johnson, officials say.

Johnson died after he was shot in the head during a traffic stop Monday. A second officer, Aurash Zarkeshan, was also shot in the head, but he survived and remains hospitalized, officials say.

Johnson was an organ donor, and his body was being taken to Oklahoma City, the Tulsa World reported.

The morning wreck led to road shutdowns while police investigated. The cause of the crash has not been released.

Photos show toppled motorcycles and debris along the road.

By the afternoon, two officers were released from the hospital, police said at a news conference. A third trooper remained hospitalized, officials said.

The driver of an SUV involved in the crash was interviewed at the scene and released, police said.

David Ware, 32, is charged in the shooting of the officers, CNN reported.
