3 displaced after fire damages Isle of Wight County home

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Three people were displaced by a fire that damaged a home in Isle of Wight County Monday afternoon, the county’s fire chief said.

Around 4:54 p.m., fire crews from Smithfield, Rushmere and Carrollton responded to a fire on White House Road and, when they arrived, they found heavy fire through the roof, according to Isle of Wight Fire Chief Garry Windley.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by 5:15 p.m.

Windley said no one was injured, and the cause of the fire was an accidental electrical issue with a space heater. The American Red Cross is helping the family.
