3 face charges after death of student in El Dorado County

Three former Guiding Hands School employees are facing manslaughter charges in connection with the November 2018 death of a student with special needs, officials said Tuesday. Guiding Hands School Inc., the entity which owned and operated the now-closed school, will be charged with one count of felony involuntary manslaughter, according to the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office. Cindy Keller, the school’s executive director and site administrator; Staranne Meyers, the school principal; and Kimberly Wohlwend, a credentialed special-education teacher working at the school, will also be charged with felony involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of 13-year-old Max Benson, prosecutors said.
