3 Georgia cities made the list of most stressed-out cities in America

WalletHub has conducted a study of the most stressed cities in America, and not surprisingly, a few from Georgia made it on the list.

But if you think living in a major metro city like Atlanta must be the most stressful way to live, you might be surprised by how Georgia cities ranked.

WalletHub compared more than 180 cities in the post-pandemic era and rated cities based on data like average weekly work hours to unemployment rates to divorce and suicide rates. The official categories measured were:

• Work stress

• Financial stress

• Family stress

• Health & safety stress

Augusta, Georgia was rated as having the 10th most stressed residents in 2023, with high levels of financial, family, and health and safety stress reported. Augusta also came in fourth for the lowest level of job security and for the lowest average hours of sleep, which can contribute to stress.

Columbus came in at #27, with extremely high levels of financial stress.

Atlanta fared marginally better, coming in at #36 on the list with the highest stress levels surrounding work, but relatively low stress levels in every other category.

The city with the most stressed residents, according to the study, was Cleveland, Ohio, which reported significant amounts of financial, family and health and safety stress.

The least-stressed city was South Burlington, Vermont.
