Three incumbent Illinois state legislators had no problem Tuesday advancing to the November general election.

State Rep. Sandy Hamilton, R-Springfield; Sen. Doris Turner, D-Springfield; and Sen. Sally Turner, R-Beason; all were unopposed.

Hamilton, who currently represents the 99th House District, seeks to represent the 48th Senate District. This November, she will face incumbent Sen. Doris Turner, who also was unopposed on Tuesday.

Both Hamilton and Doris Turner were appointed to their seats, meaning both are seeking election to the Illinois Statehouse for the first time.

Meanwhile, Sally Turner is looking to keep her job as senator of the 44th District. No Democrats have announced a run for the seat.

Sally Turner was appointed to the seat in January, 2021, to replace former Sen. Bill Brady.
