3 Massachusetts natives competing in U.S. Open Championship in Brookline this week

Three Massachusetts natives are slated to compete in the U.S. Open Championship at The Country Club in Brookline this week.

Scott Stallings, of Worcester, has a 7:29 a.m. tee time for round one of the major tournament on Thursday. He will be playing alongside Davis Riley and Victor Perez.

The 37-year-old has three PGA Tour victories in his career. His best finish this season was a T-4 at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May.

Michael Thorbjornsen, 20, of Wellesley, has a 6:45 a.m. tee time and will be among the first golfers out on the course in the opening round. He’s paired with Erik Barnes and Matt McCarty.

Thorbjornsen, a student at Stanford University, secured a spot in the Open after advancing through a qualifier in New York.

Fran Quinn, 57, of Holden, will also begin the tournament with a 6:45 a.m. tee time. Callum Tarren and Hayden Buckley will play alongside him.

Quinn is a current member of the Champions Tour who also advanced through a qualifier in New York.

Quinn told PGATOUR.com that he has played The Country Club about 15 times over the years.

Keegan Bradley, of Woodstock, Vermont, is also in the field. He was won four tour events, most notably the 2011 PGA Championship.

The Open field is headlined by Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, and John Rahm, among many other stars.
