3 McCaskey High School robotics teams competed in a tournament on Saturday

(WHTM) – Three McCaskey High School robotics teams were among two dozen across Pennsylvania competing in a tournament on Saturday.

They were broken up into teams and had to design and build a robot using a reusable kit of parts

Robots took part in a series of challenges including one where it had to pull itself off the ground and shoot a paper airplane over the wall.

Andrew Friedlund, robot teacher and coach at McCaskey High School said, “All these things seem crazy but what they do is force kids to solve problems with mechanical design skills as well as programming skills.”

“It’s been a long journey and I’m glad to see it all pay off in my last competition of my senior year,” said Eric Peachy of the McCaskey High School robotics team.

No teams from McCaskey High School advanced to the state championships but Kardia Robotics in Reading did.
