3 Michigan cities make list of most beautiful, affordable honeymoon destinations

For all the newlyweds or those planning to tie the knot soon, these Michigan locations might be the perfect romantic getaway. Even better, it doesn’t have to break the bank, either.

Experts from HoneymoonAlways surveyed 3,000 couples to determine the 150 most beautiful and affordable honeymoon destinations, and three from the list are located in the Great Lakes state.

Petoskey

Along the shores of Lake Michigan, Petoskey offers a variety of outdoor activities, natural beauty, and shopping opportunities. Ranked at 54 on the list and located near Harbor Springs and Bay Harbor, Petoskey is known for its sandy beaches, vibrant sunsets, and hiking trails.

According to a news release, Petoskey offers budget-friendly accommodations at local hotels and inns. Some lodging locations include the Bay Inn of Petoskey, Stafford's Perry Hotel, and the Apple Tree Inn. For those who prefer other sleeping accommodations, campgrounds and RV parks are also in the area such as Petoskey State Park and Magnus Park.

There is also a shopping district located downtown with boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and craft shops. Some popular locations include Boutique Boisson, Cheekade Meekade, and Beards Brewery.

Munising

At number 89 on the list, Munising is a beautiful city in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Visitors should expect countless waterfalls and scenic hiking trails, along with outdoor activities such as kayaking or boat tours. One of the biggest attractions in the area, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, is located around a mile from Munising.

Popular places for lodging include Pictured Rocks Inn & Suites, Buckhorn Resort and Cherrywood Lodge. Campgrounds include Munising Tourist Park Campground, Otter Lake Campground and Fort Superior Campground.

Munising also has breweries and restaurants for a fun night out such as ByGeorge Brewing Co. and East Channel Brewing Company.

Marquette

Ranked at 133, Marquette is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula along the shores of Lake Superior. A variety of indoor attractions are offered like museums and art galleries, while those who prefer the outdoors have mountains, waterfalls and sandy beaches to explore. The area is also known for some of its historic lighthouses, such as the Marquette Habor Lighthouse, originally built in 1853.

Some lodging options include the Superior Stay Hotel, Hampton Inn Marquette/Waterfront and Cedar Motor Inn.
