$3-million winning Mega Millions ticket sold in RI; jackpot grows to $421 million

Somebody bought a $3-million winning Mega Millions ticket in Rhode Island.

The big win came even as the Mega Millions jackpot continues growing to an estimated $421 million.

The Rhode Island ticket won the game's second prize, matching five white balls in Tuesday night's drawing. The prize was tripled because the ticket buyer included the optional Megaplier, an extra $1 purchase, according to Mega Millions.

On Tuesday night, the white balls 3, 12, 38, 53 and 58 were drawn, along with the gold Mega Ball 13.

A $1 million winning ticket was sold in Texas.

The winners were not identified in a Mega Millions press release.

The jackpot has been increasing since it was won at $108 million in Arizona on October 22.

The next drawing is Friday.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game that can be played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U. S. Virgin Islands.
