Three young girls, ages 2, 5 and 8, who were missing since May 22, have been found safe, Mesa police announced on Sunday.

Mesa police said no charges were filed in this case as it wasn't a kidnapping case. The only living custodial parent, the children's mother was arrested in Texas and a family member had agreed to take the children. When the mother was released for jail, she requested the children be returned.

One child was located in California and the other two were found in Texas. Mesa police said the Department for Child Services for each state was contacted and the children were turned over to them.

It was previously reported that the missing children were 8-year-old Barbara Demetro, 5-year-old Saleen Demetro, and 2-year-old Legend Demetro. Before police announced they were missing, the children were last seen around 8 p.m. on May 22 near Country Club Drive and Broadway Boulevard in Mesa with their uncle Tony Hallam, 44, who has no custodial rights to the children.
