LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Three residents of the Tar Heel State were guests of the Tippecanoe County Jail courtesy of the Indiana State Police.

A trooper stopped a car for a traffic violation Tuesday south of the Indiana 26/South Street exit, and the trooper suspected three of the passengers in the car might be doing something illegal, according to the Indiana State Police.

A search of the car found what police suspect is heroin, according to the state police, who noted that syringes, marijuana, pills and drug paraphernalia also were found in the car. The investigation indicated that the items belonged to the passengers — Rebeca Arielle Banner, 32, of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Nicole Leann Reynolds, 26, of Raleigh, North Carolina and Bradley Scott Wise, 42, of Wendell, North Carolina.

The driver was cited and released, police said.

Troopers booked the passengers into the Tippecanoe County Jail on suspicion of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, possession of syringes, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Banner also was jailed on suspicion of trafficking with an inmate, according to the state police.

Wise and Banner were no longer listed as inmates Wednesday morning, according to online jail records.

Reynolds, however, remained jailed in lieu of bond, according to online jail records.
