3 observations from Day 1 of Bills minicamp

The Bills are back at minicamp this week in Orchard Park. The workouts will last three days and the first of that bunch took place on Tuesday.

Here are three takeaways from Day 1 of minicamp:

Star Lotulelei was back in action for the Bills for the first time since their 2019 playoff loss to the Texans. On his first day back, he looked a bit slimmer than he usual does, even just based on photos. During his video conference following practice, he assured that everything is fine, though. He said he's only five to 10 pounds away from his usual playing weight. Plenty of time for him to get there.

Isaiah Hodgins gets many mentions

A late draft pick in 2020, Isaiah Hodgins sat out the entire season as a rookie due to a shoulder injury. He was out of his red non-contact jersey on Tuesday for the first time in a long time. Several reports, including WROC-TV and ESPN, made note that Hodgins found a way to stand out in practice. That's good news for him considering the Bills have a very good depth chart at his position.

Rookie second-round pick Carlos Basham was in on at least one good play during team drills. Per The Athletic, Basham had a solid overall day, but one of his deflections of a Josh Allen pass, according to Syracuse.com, ended up as a Tre'Davious White pick-six interception. Good start to minicamp for Basham.
