3-year-old dies after accidental shooting in Brunswick Hills

BRUNSWICK HILLS, Ohio (WJW) – A 3-year-old child has died after an accidental shooting in Brunswick Hills Wednesday evening, according to Police Chief Tim Sopkovich.

Officers were called to the scene just after 5 p.m. on Marks Road.

According to Sopkovich, the accidental shooting resulted in a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the chest. Sopkocvich said, the child’s father set aside his gun in the garage and the child got hold of it.

The child was taken by LifeFlight to a nearby hospital.

The medical examiner identified the child as Maxwell Lamatrice.

The police chief told FOX 8 that when the investigation is complete it will be sent to the Medina County Prosecutor’s office for review. At this time, there have been no charges or arrests.
