3 people displaced after two-alarm fire at Utica apartment building

Three people were displaced following a fire on the fourth floor of a Utica apartment building early Wednesday morning, according to a release from the Utica fire department.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:41 a.m. to Lillian Cooper Apartments at 276 Genesee St., where they found smoke coming from the south side on the fourth floor of the building, according to the release. A second alarm was called as crews worked to suppress the fire, search for occupants and ventilate and salvage the third and fourth floors.

All occupants exited safely and no one was injured, but three people were displaced following the fire, the release said. The incident is still under investigation by the city fire marshal's office.
