3 people and a dog rescued on a flooded roadway in Tulare County. How they were saved

Authorities in Tulare County rescued three people and a dog on a flooded roadway Sunday afternoon.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said emergency personnel rescued the trio after “they ignored road closure signs and tried to drive their car through a flooded roadway” at Road 16 and Avenue 112, between Corcoran and Alpaugh.

The sheriff’s helicopter crew spotted the people on the roof of their nearly submerged vehicle waiting for emergency personnel to rescue them. The Tulare County Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Team rescued them.

The vehicle became stranded when they drove around the road closed barricades, authorities said.

No injures were reported.

In another reminder, Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said Highway 43 is closed south to County Line Road.

“Please do not go around barricades and road closure signs for your own safety.”
