Rather than stopping by your nearest grocery store to pick up the festive fruits, many families opt for the more exciting route of traveling to their nearest pumpkin patch to make an outing dedicated to seasonal fun and memory-making.

Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch in Mt. Pleasant at Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens was ranked as the best pumpkin-picking locale in the state.

The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch has grown to be one of the largest fall festivals in the state since 1997, according to its website, and features a plethora of family-friendly activities.

Days and hours of operation include:

  • October 6&7: 10 a.m.-5 p.m

  • October 8: noon- 5 p.m.

  • October 13&14: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

  • October 15: noon- 5pm

  • October 20&21: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

  • October 22: noon- 5 p.m.

  • October 27&28: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

  • October 29: noon- 5 p.m.

Next, West Farm Corn Maze in Moncks Corner was ranked as the second best pumpkin patch in the Palmetto State.

West Farm Corn Maze is open Wednesdays through Sundays until Oct. 29 for various times and ticket prices. Times, admission prices and ticket purchases can be found online at https://www.westfarmcornmaze.com/ticket-dates-hours-information.

The festive fall destination features activities including a 6-acre dinosaur-themed corn maze, farm animals, pumpkin barn, apple slingshot, tire climb, snack bar, food trucks, hay ride, children’s area and more.

West Farm is located at 2641 Cooper Store Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

Lastly, Legare Farms on Johns Island came in third place overall as one of the best pumpkin patches in the state.

Found at 2620 Hanscombe Point Road, Johns Island, SC 29455, Legare Farms is featuring their annual pumpkin patch, hay ride, horse ride, scarecrow factory, gem mine, corn cannon, farm animals and more.

The pumpkin patch is open each weekend until Oct. 29 on Fridays from 3-6 p.m., Saturdays 10-6 p.m. and Sundays from noon-6 p.m.

Gate admission is $5 per car but is advertised on the farm’s website as free with a coupon found here.
