3 puppies stolen after thief breaks into PAWS Atlanta animal shelter
A metro animal shelter is asking for the public’s help to find puppies that were stolen.
DeKalb police responded to the PAWS Atlanta shelter on a suspicious person call around 2:30 a.m. Friday When officers showed up, they found the front entrance of the shelter broken into.
PAWS Atlanta confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a thief took three dogs Friday morning: two Pitbull mixes named Violet and Emilia and a Yorkie named Princeton.
Shelter manager Laura McKelvey says the thief used a huge piece of concrete to smash a window in a door and get inside.
“He tried to steal more dogs but was unsuccessful,” PAWS Atlanta said in a statement.

The shelter says it found a fourth dog they think escaped from the thief off its leash. Two dogs were also loose in one of the buildings.
“People come and go here and somebody knew the layout here,” shelter manager Laura McKelvey told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington.
PAWS Atlanta just started carrying for Violet and Emilia after they were abandoned in a parking lot. Princeton’s owners had recently surrendered him to the shelter.
“Our hope is simply for these dogs to be returned safely to PAWS Atlanta, even if it is done anonymously. Please be on the lookout for Emilia, Violet, and Princeton on Craigslist, NextDoor, Facebook, and out in your community.”
