Looking at recruits that may commit to Michigan State football soon

Michigan State football is off to a somewhat slow start to its 2024 recruiting class, securing only two commitments to this point. Compared to recent years, this number is down, but that isn’t something to be worried about yet.

Recruiting is sure to pick up in the near future. As the spring game approaches, several key visitor weekends are scheduled in the coming weeks.

Several prospects high on the Spartans could pull the trigger on a commitment with one more good visit to East Lansing.

Let’s take a look at three prospects who could commit to MSU soon:

3-star IOL Andrew (AJ) Dennis

Dennis is a Mt. Pleasant native in search of an MSU offer. After a strong camp performance, coach Chris Kapilovic rewarded him with an offer. Dennis is high on the Spartans, and it appears that interest may be reciprocated.

UPDATE (4/11): Dennis committed to the Spartans, sparking what could be a spring recruiting run.

4-star TE Dylan Mesman

The four-star tight end from Saline could be a member of MSU’s 2024 class sooner rather than later. Ted Gilmore has done a great job building a relationship with the in-state tight end.

UPDATE (4/11): Mesman has set a commitment date for April 28th

4-star DL Xadavien Sims

At one time, Sims was considered a strong lean to Michigan State. In the wake of Brandon Jordan’s and Marco Coleman’s departures, new DL coach Diron Reynolds has ground to make up. I believe Reynolds can win this recruitment with a couple of strong performances while bringing Sims back to campus.

UPDATE (4/11): Sims has announced a top ten.

NEW: 3-star WR Tra'Mar Harris

Courtney Hawkins has done a good job recruiting the Cincinnati wide receiver, and has done a better job getting him up on campus several times this year. Harris is a candidate to possibly commit during his next visit to East Lansing.
