3 surprises from the Steelers snap counts versus the Seahawks
It’s time for our weekly deep dive into the Pittsburgh Steelers snap counts. This week the Steelers pulled off a thrilling overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks to bring their record to 5-5. Here are three things that surprised us from the Steelers snap counts.
Ray-Ray McCloud dominated James Washington in snaps

How on Earth did Ray-Ray McCloud get 52 snaps and James Washington only get eight? Nothing about the Washington situation has made sense even going back to last season but with JuJu Smith-Schuster out, replacing him with McCloud over Washington tells me there is something deeper going on that we aren’t privy to. Washington’s ability to play isn’t in question. Are the Steelers planning to trade Washington during the bye week perhaps?

Looking at the snaps by the Steelers defensive lineman, you can see why the Seahawks came out and ran all over them in the start of the second half. Cam Heyward played 89 percent of the defensive snaps and Chris Wormley played 69 percent. No other defensive lineman played more than 29 percent of snaps. If you are wondering my the line gets pushed around sometimes, this is it.
What happened to Melvin Ingram?

I know while the game was going on, I kept wondering where linebacker Melvin Ingram was. At first I thought maybe he was just being overshadowed. But once I saw the numbers, the story was Ingram only played 17 snaps. There was no mention of an injury so I assume this was just a case of Ingram being ineffective and Pittsburgh going with the hot hands of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.
