3 teens killed in single-car crash fleeing street race in Nashville, police say

Metro Nashville Police Department data shows crime rate trends from 1963 through 2021.

Three teenagers died in a horrific single-car crash after police arrived to investigate street racing in Nashville.

Police identified the dead as Jeffrie Prendergast, 18, Jonathan Jesus Bravo, 18, and Jordan Posantes, 19, all of Franklin.

Police said Prendergast was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, and Bravo and Posantes were passengers. All three teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident took place at 12:05 a.m. June 18 at the corner of Sidco Drive and Powell Avenue.

Police said an officer who was part of Metro Nashville's "Street Racer Initiative" arrived at the scene before the accident. The officer unsuccessfully attempted to stop the Camaro, police said.

The Camaro fled the scene at a high rate of speed, and the officer did not chase the fleeing car, police said.

The Camaro sped through a stop sign at the corner of Powell and Sidco and hit a railroad berm, police said. The car went airborne and crashed through a chain link fence stopping only when it became wedged between two semi trailers, police said.

Test results showed no alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, police said.
