3 teens shot in car in Englewood, 2 in critical condition, police say

Three teens were shot while sitting in a car in Englewood Monday night, police said.

The group had been traveling east on West Garfield Boulevard at 9:20 p.m. when a gunman in another car opened fire, according to an online statement from Chicago police. The three wounded teens drove to a nearby police station, where paramedics transported them to hospitals.

A 14-year-old boy shot in the face and neck was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition. A 17-year-old girl was sent to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the face. And an 18-year-old man who was grazed by a bullet on his shoulder also was sent to University of Chicago Medical in good condition.

Police said the shooter was not in custody. Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
