3 Tips To Reduce Coronavirus Risk: NYC PSA

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A cavalcade of New York City doctors — 51 to be exact — joined Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams to give three tips to reduce coronavirus risk.

So what's the takeaway from the PSA released Tuesday?

Quit smoking, take your medications and eat more plants.

There's much more to it than three tips. The doctors lay out that 94 percent of Americans who died from coronavirus underlying health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and lung disease.

Fighting back against coronavirus can start with quitting smoking, maintaining regular treatment for underlying conditions and changing diet.

Adams said on the video that he reversed diabetes through dietary changes.

"Now that I am eating a whole food, plant-based diet filled with beans, grains, fruits and veggies I feel healthy and I'm able to have a healthy lifestyle," he said.

It's not the first health-focused video Adams released since the coronavirus pandemic. He co-hosted a guided meditation to help Brooklynites and New Yorkers deal with stress.

And it appears he was ahead of the curve — Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced the state partnered with the Headspace to provide residents with free meditation and mindfulness content.
