In search of a new favorite Caribbean spot?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Caribbean restaurants around Indianapolis, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to meet your needs.
1. Jamaican Style Jerk
Topping the list is Jamaican Style Jerk. Located at 7023 Michigan Road in Crooked Creek, the Caribbean spot, which offers barbecue and more, is the highest-rated restaurant of its kind in Indianapolis, boasting 4.5 stars out of 117 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper India J., who reviewed Jamaican Style Jerk on Oct. 15, wrote, "If you love spice, flavor and great barbecue, definitely give this place a try. I got the rib and chicken combo which comes with beans and rice, plantains and steamed cabbage as a garnish."
2. Patties of Jamaica
Millersville's Patties of Jamaica, located at 5172 Allisonville Road, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the cheap Caribbean spot 4.5 stars out of 75 reviews.
The family-owned eatery offers curry chicken, beef stew and curry goat, as well as potato salad, coleslaw and white rice. Vegan burger patties and curries are also available.
3. Elena Ruz Cuban Cuisine
Elena Ruz Cuban Cuisine, a beer bar and Cuban spot in Fairgrounds, is another inexpensive go-to, with four stars out of 59 Yelp reviews. Head over to 2201 E. 46th St., Suite 207, Black Circle Brewing Company to see for yourself.
"Longtime cook and newly minted restaurateur Robert Graham has been enamored with the flavors of Miami, Florida's Cuban cuisine for most of his life," states the business's Yelp profile.
On the menu, look for appetizers like croquettes, yuca fries and sliders. When it comes to entrees, this spot serves up a variety of empanadas, as well as a black bean bowl and a Homesense hash with mojo roasted pork, scrambled eggs, feta cheese, green onions and garlic sauce.
