3 virtual programs offered at MCCC for Women's History Month

Three more virtual programs have been set for Women’s History Month.

The public is welcome to attend Monroe County Community College's "Celebrating Women Who Tell Their Stories" diversity events in March. All of the events are free and presented on Zoom.

• At noon March 15, Asim Khan, treasurer of the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit and an engineer with Ford Motor Co., will present on Ramadan, a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection and community celebrated by Muslims. Ramadan is March 22 through April 21 this year.

• At 2 p.m. March 23, Geneva Williams will present "Five Things Today's Successful Leaders Do."

Williams is the CEO and founder of Dr. Geneva Speaks and the creator of The Vibrant Life Blueprint. Her doctorate from Wayne State University is in educational leadership. She was the first Black woman CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Detroit and founded City Connect Detroit and Figure Skating in Detroit.

“Throughout her career … she has seen great success pioneering innovative, neighborhood-based programs for children, youth and families and leading successful regional volunteerism campaigns,” MCCC said.
