3 women wounded in Dallas Korean hair salon shooting
Three women were wounded and hospitalized after a man opened fire inside a Korean-owned hair salon in northwest Dallas on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
At around 2:20 p.m., the suspect reportedly parked his vehicle at the 2200 block of Royal Lane, walked into Hair World Salon and yelled something indiscernible before firing multiple rounds. The suspect left the scene in a dark-colored minivan after the shooting.
The salon is located in an area filled with Asian-owned businesses. Investigators are still determining whether the incident was a hate crime.
“We haven’t said that it’s not, but we haven’t seen any indication that at this time that it is one,” Dallas Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell told reporters on Thursday.
“When he came in, he shouted something that we haven’t figured out yet, and then he started shooting,” Mitchell added. “Again, we are in the early stages of this investigation, and we’ve not yet seen anything indicating at this time that this is a hate crime-related incident.”
The three Korean victims — identified as the salon’s owner, an employee and a customer — were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Mitchell said one of the victims was shot in the arm, while another one was shot in the leg.
The suspect was described as a 5-foot-7-inch to 5-foot-10-inch tall male with a beard and curly, medium-length hair. He wore all-black clothing during the incident.
Dallas police have requested the FBI’s assistance with the investigation.
