30 GA Store Closings: LOFT, Justice, Catherine's And More

GEORGIA — The parent company of clothing retailers including Justice, Lane Bryant, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Catherine's, Lou & Grey and Cacique filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. Ascena Retail Group announced plans to close about half its 2,800 stores, including 76 Ann Taylor, LOFT and Lou & Grey stores, more than 600 Justice stores and all Catherine's plus-size clothing store locations. All locations outside the U.S. will also close.

Disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said the last few months negatively impacted "meaningful progress" to get back on track financially.

The closings in Georgia include 19 Justice stores, all seven Catherine's shops as well as four others owned by Ascena.

"Tween" clothing store Justice, which caters to girls ages 6 to 12, has more than 800 stores across the country. According to USA today, these are the 19 Georgia Justice stores that will close:

  • Alpharetta: 2172 North Point Circle

  • Atlanta: 3500 Peachtree Road NE

  • Calhoun: 455 Belwood Road

  • Columbus: 5550 Whittlesey Blvd.

  • Commerce: 800 Steven B. Tanger Blvd.

  • Cumming: 410 Peachtree Parkway

  • Dawsonville: 800 Hwy 400 South

  • Douglasville: 6700 Douglas Boulevard

  • Fayetteville: 110 B. Pavilion Parkway

  • Kennesaw: 400 Ernest W. Barrett Pkwy NE

  • Lawrenceville: 5900 Sugarloaf Pkwy

  • Lithonia: 2929 Turner Hill Rd.

  • Marietta: 3625 Dallas Highway

  • Peachtree City: 206 City Circle

  • Pooler: 200 Tanger Outlet Blvd.

  • Rome: 993 Mount Berry Square NE

  • Savannah: 7804 Abercorn St.

  • Valdosta: 1700 Norman Drive

  • Woodstock: 128 Woodstock Square Ave.

Ascena operates seven Catherine's stores in Georgia, which will all close:

Also on the list of stores slated to close in Georgia are the following:

  • Anne Taylor Factory, Tanger Outlet Commerce, 800 Steven B Tanger Boulevard, Commerce

  • LOFT, 15 W Broughton St., Savannah

  • Lou & Grey, 6150 Avalon Blvd, Alpharetta

Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant, Justice and Lou & Grey "have significant long-term potential, and we continue to deliver on their mission to provide all women and girls with fashion and inspiration to live confidently every day," Chief Executive Officer of Ascena Gary Muto said in a statement. "This comprehensive restructuring, as well as the actions we are taking to optimize our brand portfolio and store fleet, mark a new start for our company and will allow us to expand our customer-focused strategies across her mobile, online, and store experiences.”

More closures could also be announced. The final number and locations of stores that are closing has not yet been determined, the company stated in the news release. Ascena previously closed all Dressbarn stores last year.
