Bill Stauffer reached the pinnacle of success in bowling with a lights-out performance at Sunset Lanes.

And his electrifying performance began with a 5-bagger in the first game before finishing with a clean 265. Building on the momentum of his 265, he began his second by running the front nine.

Now it's true, Stauffer's faced that scenario multiple times before, but still going into the 10th with a perfecto on the line has to be a pulse-pounding affair.

Well, next, and seemingly unfazed by the pressure, he tattooed the 1-3 pocket with three more strikes paving the way for his first-ever 300 game.

And after rolling a 223 in his last game, he finished the night with 28 total strikes and a stratospheric 788 series.

By the way, he can't wait for next February, 2024 to arrive because his 804 series happened in February 2021, and his eye-popping 300 came in February 2023.

His resume now sports one 800 series (804-290, 279, 235), one 300, a 298, a 290, a personal-best 18 straight strikes, and finished last season with a 210 average over 75 games.

He played basketball and baseball in high school, and later played in a competitive softball league.

He's a humongous fan of the Golden State Warriors, Las Vegas Raiders and Oakland Athletics, and at the top of his bucket list is to continue traveling to California to see a granddaughter play in her softball games.

In other pin action, Dalton Smith chucked 24 strikes in games of 267, 249 and 214 for a top-notch 730 series, while Dave Myers (723-265, 234, 224) also came up with a huge effort, and Scott Brosier's (711-267) second big outing in the last three weeks may have him thinking a second 800 is doable.

Tor Lowry is a multi-talented individual away from bowling and is also equally talented on in the lanes so it's not surprising he tossed his umpteenth 700, a 704 including a 253, and Jeremy Turlington is another superb bowler who fired 23 strikes in a 701 after bookending a clean 245 with a 240 and 216.

Meanwhile, Patrick Webster understands limiting the number of open frames is a blueprint for success, and after beginning with 196 game, tossed clean games of 268 and 236 with 20 strikes and only one open frame in a 698 set, while Scott Bowden (687-245) is having a standout season and merits more ink.

And Tim Brandt definitely captures ink after throwing a 6-bagger in a clean 265 en route to a season-high 686, and Max Stayrook (679-247) — brace yourself — Doyle Mouser (681-256), your chief 86-year-old competitor has discovered his strike ball again and he's coming for you.

Kyle Kidman (622-235) had a good week, Larry Rumple's 600s ranged from a 612 to a 678, Doug Bowers (602-219) ended a 600 drought, and Will Hutchinson (600-233) tossed another of his almost weekly 600s. And in senior league bowling, Randy Brown  (665-231,226,221) had 21 strikes in a first-rate effort.

In single game play, Todd Thomas (655) rolled a season-high 279, Bruce Breager (624) ran the front 9 in a 279, Marcus Allen (619) logged a 254, and in youth bowling, DeWayne Garrett's 217 blew away a previous high 148.

On the women's front, Bryeann Barckley set a blistering scoring pace to lead all bowlers with an eye-popping 670 series with 20 strikes during games of 266, 204 and 200, while Luann Huchins (649-245) threw 19 strikes in a stellar outing more reminiscent of her bowling heyday some 10-plus years ago.

Sherri Snarr fired19 strikes in a 644 including a 7-bagger in a 244, Pat McCabe's (584-220) super effort fell a couple of marks shy of her first 600, and Debbie Lehnen (576-220) booked some scrumptious numbers. And Rebecca Mathews (535-189), Donna Jo Judson (533-197) and Peggy Eggleston (507) collectively mowed down 1,575 pins. And in senior league play, Margie O'Neill's (657-224, 220, 213) standout series included 19 strikes.

In single game action, Hailey Bundy (544) pounded out seven strikes in a clean 231 and her game has improved tenfold from when she first began league bowling, Kerri Hancock snares her first ink for a nice 213, Tina Wilson (507) registered a 201, and both Candi Myer and Lisa Jones logged a 200. Finally, in youth bowling, Adi Telford's season-high 199 topped a previous high 194 game.

Oh, bay-bee!
