31-year-old man dead after crash, rollover on freeway in Palm Springs
A 31-year-old man died after a crash caused the Smart car he was driving to roll over on Interstate 10 near Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, authorities said.
The crash was reported at about 10:48 p.m. on Sunday, the Riverside County Fire Department said. The man who died, Anthony Juarez of Cathedral City, was the only occupant of the car.
Juarez was driving eastbound just west of Indian Canyon Drive when he crashed into the back of a Toyota Corolla, said Officer David Torres of the California Highway Patrol. Juarez then lost control of the Smart car, which overturned and ejected him.
Torres said Juarez did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Corolla was not injured while his car sustained only minor damage.
