31-year-old woman, one student suffer minor injuries in Okaloosa County school bus crash

CRESTVIEW — An Okaloosa County school bus was involved in a crash on State Road 85 Tuesday afternoon, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 2:59 p.m. as the school bus, which was traveling south on State Road 85, was slowing to turn onto Jim Green Road in Crestview.

An SUV behind the school bus failed to slow down and collided with the rear end of the bus, the FHP reported.

There were 17 students aboard the bus. One student complained of a minor injury. The remaining 16 students and the bus driver were not injured, according to the FHP.

The driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old woman from Andalusia, Alabama, sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to the North Okaloosa Medical Center for treatment.

The woman was charged with careless driving and driving with a suspended license, according to the report.
