314-108: The House passes a bipartisan continuing resolution to fund the government through March 1 and March 8.

“On this vote, the yeas are 314, the nays are 108. Two-thirds being in the affirmative, the rules are suspended, and the Senate amendment is agreed to. And without objection, the motion to reconsider is laid on the table.”

In a 314-108 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bipartisan continuing resolution Thursday evening that would fund the federal government through March 1 and March 8. The result was expected — House Democrats provided Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) with the votes he needed, allowing the Speaker to work around the hardline conservatives in his own conference who were unhappy with the deal. In recent days, far-right members have threatened Johnson with a potential motion to vacate. Some Democrats have expressed a willingness to help Johnson retain the speakership in that situation if he demonstrates a willingness to work with them across the aisle.

The U.S. Senate passed the bipartisan CR earlier in the day in a 77-18 vote.

The measure now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk for his signature. Federal government funding is set to run out midnight Friday night.
