Calling all bourbon lovers! Introducing the Courier Journal's Bourbon Bar Showdown, where we want you to pick between 32 competitors to decide which one is Louisville's favorite bourbon bar.

Here's how it will work: The online bracket-style competition, which was compiled using a random match-up generator, will run over five rounds from Feb. 23 through March 27, with the champion bar announced March 29.

How can I vote in the Bourbon Bar Showdown?

The competition will include five rounds, with each round lasting five days. Round one, involving 16 matchups, will start at 5 a.m. on Thursday (Feb. 23) and end at midnight on Monday (Feb. 27). The second round will begin at 5 a.m. on Thursday, (March 2) and so on from there. The full schedule is below.

What is the Bourbon Bar Showdown voting schedule?

Each round of voting runs from 5 a.m. Thursday to midnight Monday. Round results will be announced Wednesdays. The winner will be announced March 29.

  • Round 1: 32 bars; Voting Feb. 23-27. Results announced March 1

  • Round 2: 16 bars; Voting March 2-6. Results announced March 8

  • Round 3: Eight bars; March 9-13. Results announced March 15

  • Round 4: Four bars; March 16-20. Results announced March 22

  • Round 5: Two bars; March 23-27. The winner announced March 29

The bars were selected by members of the Courier Journal newsroom based on a variety of criteria, including the number of bourbons offered, the variety of bourbons offered, and private barrel programs.
