Wide receiver Eddie Combs had a standout season last year after hauling in more than 1,000 receiving yards.

Combs was a key part in helping Satellite High have one its most successful football seasons in school history and his receiving skills have caught the eye of many colleges.

While he is not quite ready to announce his top schools, Combs said his recruitment process has been one that he will always remember.

"My recruiting process really has been a legendary experience. I have thought about it my entire life playing college football and hopefully getting to the next level even after college," Combs said. "My recruiting took off last year and I have been loving it ever since."

He is one of 12 Brevard County senior high school football players on FLORIDA TODAY's list of most highly sought recruits, the 321preps Dandy Dozen.

Growing up Combs said his parents always reminded him the importance of having a good education.

So when it comes to picking the right school, athletics isn't the only thing important to him.

"Something that I really look forward to is the academics in the school. My parents always pushed me as a kid and without grades nothing can be possible," Combs said. "There's always a life after football so I want to make sure I get the best academics out of the college."

This season Combs will play for the Raiders at Rockledge High after transferring from Satellite.

"Eddie is an explosive, big-time playmaker when the ball is in his hands," Rockledge head coach Wayne Younger said. "He's had a really good high school career leading up to this point and has fit in extremely well with our culture and our program."

Last season Combs had 60 catches for 1,039 yards and 15 touchdowns. With numbers like that, the Raiders plan to use his offensive skills as much as possible.

"We are going to try to feature him as much as possible and we are excited about the season." Younger said.
