Titusville High's gymnasium will be named for former coach and teacher Laura Dixon in a 6 p.m. Tuesday ceremony at the school.

Dixon, coach of the Terriers volleyball program for a quarter centuray, won 359 games before retiring in 1999. In 1997, she was the third woman inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and she entered the FHSAA Hall of Fame in 2004.

Her volleyball program won state titles in 1981 and '83. She also coached softball for 16 seasons and led four of those teams to district titles.

Dixon was the FLORIDA TODAY Volleyball Coach of the Year four times, and the school's annual top female athlete is recognized as the Laura Dixon Female Athlete of the Year.
