33-year-old bicyclist dead after car crashes into him on Anna Maria Bridge
A 33-year-old bicyclist died on the Anna Maria Bridge on Wednesday after an SUV crashed into him, officials from the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 23-year-old driver from Bradenton was driving an SUV over the bridge at about 12:23 a.m. He was traveling eastbound, approaching the bridge’s center span when he collided with the right side of the bicyclist.

The man from Lancaster, New York was separated from his bicycle and propelled in a northeast direction, hitting the bridge’s concrete surface. The bicycle was propelled in the same direction and collided with the raised curb.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The FHP Traffic Homicide Unit will continue to investigate the crash.
