34,000 couples, $500 million in gifts. Here comes the biggest wedding day of the year

Going to a wedding this weekend?

You're not alone – 4.3 million guests will attend nearly 34,000 weddings Saturday, Oct. 19, the most popular wedding day of the year, according to The Knot and WeddingWire. The companies based that number on weddings recorded on their sites.

“As fall weddings continue to grow in popularity, we’re seeing more and more couples opt for those September and October wedding dates,” said Jeffra Trumpower, senior creative director at WeddingWire. “It’s no surprise to us that 2019’s most popular wedding day of the year falls in mid-October. On Oct. 19, we expect to see couples incorporating bold, vibrant and festive colors into their décor coupled with hearty comfort food dishes; seasonal cocktails like spiked warm apple cider, and lots of texture like pampas grass, greenery and velvet.”

According to The Knot Registry, the average registry cost for the Oct. 19 couples is $3,210.
