35-year-old man shot dead in Akron just before midnight on New Year's Eve

A man was killed in a shooting in Akron just before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Police responded at 11:55 p.m. Saturday after a neighbor called 911 to say a man outside had been shot.

Officers determined the shooting had occurred inside a home in the 1200 block of Louisiana Avenue in Kenmore, Akron police Capt. Dave Laughlin said.

The 35-year-old victim was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family and an autopsy.

Detectives are reviewing doorbell camera video and footage from Flock cameras, which capture images of vehicles and license plates that can then be matched against suspects' vehicles.
