Stabbed by another motorist during brawl, victim drives away, stopping in front of Mag Mile cop, before dying: police

An altercation between two motorists ended with one of them stabbed to death Tuesday night blocks from the Magnificent Mile, Chicago police said.

Two people in a Tesla, saw the 36-year-old victim stop his car at the southeast corner of Ohio and Dearborn streets in the Near North neighborhood while another car pulled up “right behind” him shortly after 7 p.m., according to a police report.

The victim and a man driving the other car, a black four-door, began tussling and the victim at first had control. But the attacker was able to “slip out” of his grip and slash him once on the left side of the neck with a knife, the report said.

The attacker got back in his car and sped north on Dearborn while the victim got back into his car, drove east on Ohio, took a left on Michigan Avenue and stopped at 637 N. Michigan Ave. in the Gold Coast neighborhood, right in front of a police officer’s post, according to the report.

Police rendered aid and he was rushed by ambulance to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:25 p.m., according to the report.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office had not identified the man as of Wednesday morning.

No motive for the fight and subsequent stabbing had been released as of Wednesday morning.

An in-car camera in the Tesla as well as street cameras captured the incident, but no arrests have been announced.
